Hooray! October plays Glastonbury 2008!
Glastonbury
Festival - My personal Blog! Check out my Glasto
blog, exclusive to myspace, detailing some of the ridiculous antics I
got up to this year! Norty Norah! :-)
Q: What’s the most important
thing musically to you? A: That's a very serious question! I just hope I always sing it
like I mean it. I always write true to how I feel, I hope that I get
that across when live.
Q: What are your
influences?
A: I’ve been influenced by loads of artists/bands of all
different genres in many different ways! Sorry to be difficult! Janis
Joplin, Alisha's Attic, Joni Mitchell, The Kinks, Lightning Seeds, SRV,
Cat Stevens, Scatman! Who knows!!! I do hope I’m not too similar to
anyone - one in a million I am!!!
Q:
What's your biggest gig? A: Well, they
had me back to play
at
Glastonbury
again this year! 9 gigs in total this time! Still recovering!
As well as the stages out front, I played at the aftershow backstage
parties. Bonus! The weirdest part for me this time round was
hearing my name being said amongst the crowds all over the festival.
What was funnier still was the fact that most didn't even know it was me
they were talking about! Playing live on BBC Radio One (From
Manchester's In The City Convention) was definitely up there on my list
of achievements too.
Q:
Desert Island disc? A: Now there’s a question! Ummmm….. I’d probably take
an ipod instead of a disc so I can listen to lots of toons. I don’t
think I could pick one. I want the Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’ played at
my funeral though if that helps!
Q:
Who's Mavis? A:Mavis
SG is my 1972 Gibson SG guitar. She's the one in the photo on the home
page. She's my baby! I don't get out much.
Q: Any
musical regrets?
A:Telling
Roger Daltry that he wasn't very 'Rock 'n Roll'! It was quite funny
actually, only I could have got away with that!
Q:
Ok, elaborate...?!
A:
Ha ha! Well he was Umming and Ahhing over the aftershow party
because he had to get up early!
Q: What do you
consider to be the world's best invention?
A:Gaffer tape. It's got me out of some pretty sticky situations
- mind you, it's got me into a few aswell! I find myself having to gaffer
microphones to bits of furniture when there aren't enough mic stands.
Oh,and I gaffer the tone selector switch on my Les Paul too!
Q: What’s
your favourite guitar?
A: That I own, or would like to buy?
Q: Both
A: OK. Well, if you hadn’t already noticed, Mavis SG is
definitely the favourite axe that I own. I also have a beautiful '57
vintage series Stratocaster. To buy, it would have to be a nice 1960's
Gibson Hummingbird or Dove.
Q: Where on
earth did you get your pink paisley guitar strap? I want one! A: Well I'm afraid you won't be able to get hold of one
'exactly' like it (I love being a bit different!). That was handmade for
me by RandyStraps.com They're a boutique guitar strap designer. I designed that strap though, you could do the same :-)
Q: What do you
call the tv remote control? A: The ‘bizazer'! Don't look at me like that! If you ask an odd question, you're gonna get an odd answer!
Q:Do you have any weird pre-gig rituals? A:Um, not really. I always wear my stripy socks on stage tho!
They're starting to look a little worse for wear now. God knows how
many gigs those 'lil stripy babies have endured!!
Q: Do
you have any musical ambitions?
A:Loads!
One of my life ambitions though is to play on the Jools Holland show.
I'd die a happy gal if I made it to "Hooternany!"
Q: When
are you gonna get a proper job? A:This is a proper job, Mum.
Q: Fave colour?
A: Turquoise. Oh the arguments I’ve caused debating over what
colour turquoise actually is! You know though, sort of baby bluey/greeny
type colour!
Q: Who do you consider to be the
coolest person in the world?
A: Easy - Stevie Ray Vaughan, but he is dead though, so that
already makes him a lot cooler than most. ouch.
Q: Do you
prefer men in boxers or Y-fronts?
A: Der! Boxers are the clear winners! I’m surprised men
stuff everything into Y-fronts really! I shouldn’t imagine that they
are too comfortable! Let it all hang loose, that’s what I say!
Q:
What’s your favourite brand of loo roll? A:Tesco blue stripe, every time. It's just money down the
toilet otherwise!
